It is simply an incredible hymn, supposedly written by St. Patrick (372-466 AD), who took the gospel to Ireland.  It is a bit long, but so full of meaning.  Here it is:<br \/>\nI bind unto myself today<br \/>\nthe strong Name of the Trinity,<br \/>\nBy invocation of the same,<br \/>\nThe Three in One, and One in Three.<br \/>\nI bind this day to me for ever,<br \/>\nby power of faith, Christ&#8217;s Incarnation;<br \/>\nHis baptism in the Jordan river;<br \/>\nHis death on cross for my salvation<br \/>\nhis bursting from the spiced tome;<br \/>\nHis riding up the heavenly way;<br \/>\nHis coming at the day of doom:<br \/>\nI bind unto myself today.<br \/>\nI bind unto myself the power<br \/>\nof the great love of cherubim;<br \/>\nThe sweet &#8220;Well done&#8221; in judgment hour;<br \/>\nThe service of the seraphim;<br \/>\nConfessor&#8217;s faith, apostles&#8217; word,<br \/>\nthe patriarchs&#8217; prayers, the prophets&#8217; scrolls;<br \/>\nAll good deeds done unto the Lord,<br \/>\nand purity of virgin souls.<br \/>\nI bind unto myself today<br \/>\nthe virtues of the starlit heaven,<br \/>\nthe glorious sun&#8217;s life giving ray,<br \/>\nthe whiteness of the moon at even,<br \/>\nthe flashing of the lightning free,<br \/>\nthe whirling wind&#8217;s tempestuous shocks,<br \/>\nthe stable earth,<br \/>\nthe deep salt sea,<br \/>\naround the old eternal rocks.<br \/>\nI bind unto myself today<br \/>\nthe power of God to hold and lead,<br \/>\nhis eye to watch,<br \/>\nhis might to stay,<br \/>\nhis ear to hearken to my need;<br \/>\nThe wisdom of my God to teach,<br \/>\nhis hand to guide,<br \/>\nhis shield to ward;<br \/>\nThe word of God to give me speech,<br \/>\nhis heavenly host to be my guard.<br \/>\nChrist be with me,  Christ within me,<br \/>\nChrist behind me, Christ before me,<br \/>\nChrist beside me, Christ to win me,<br \/>\nChrsit to comfort and restore me,<br \/>\nChrist beneath me, Christ above me,<br \/>\nChrist in quiet, Christ in danger,<br \/>\nChrist in hearts of all that love me,<br \/>\nChrist in mouth of friend and stranger.<br \/>\nI bind unto myself the Name,<br \/>\nthe strong Name of the Trinity,<br \/>\nby invocation of the same,<br \/>\nthe Three in One, and One in three.<br \/>\nOf whom all nature hath creation,<br \/>\neternal Father, Spirit, Word:<br \/>\npraise to the Lord of my salvation,<br \/>\nsalvation is of Christ the Lord.<br \/>\ncomments?  <a href=\"mailto:bob@hypersync.net\" title=\"e-mail me\">e-mail me<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>During Chris&#8217; ordination, which is more than appropriate, and for Trinity Sunday &#8211; twice in one weekend &#8211; I heard the hymn, St. Patrick&#8217;s Breastplate.
